MSU Football

I am pretty sure almost everyone in Starkville that blogs has a post about football and tailgating, and it only seemed appropriate that I have one too. We have not gotten to take the babies to a game yet this year, but hopefully we will be able to before the end of the year. I have been to one game this year with one of my besties, Nikki - ha. That whole game just wound up being one of those stories we could tell you, but then we'd have to kill you. :) But here we are (and I had a LONG day that day, so forgive me for looking just... tired):

And then I got to go with Derek to his first game as a fan in UMPTEEN years. He has been covering MSU football for various media outlets for so many years... it was really nice that he got to tailgate, sit in the stands, watch the game, and ring a cowbell!

You know you have to have a tv to keep up with all the other football games. Mark and Jackie have a really nice set up and we love that they invite us to their tailgate. :) Look at these cute maroon cookies on a cute bulldog tray:

So here is Derek in the stands! Whaddya know, he's on his phone.

Love this pic of us ringing our cowbells!!

And then for the MSU/USC game, Derek had to work... but a sweet friend, Drew, was kind enough to let me go with him! We lost, but we had a good time - that's MSU football! :) It was such a pretty day, too.

Looking forward to November, hopefully we (ALL of us!!) will make it to Homecoming, Ritchie will be here for the Alabama game, and then some of my favorite people in the whole world, my in-laws, will be here for Thanksgiving and the Egg Bowl!

Painted Pumpkins

Just a quick post to share the kids' painted pumpkins! We got mini pumpkins last weekend for the kids because they wanted to paint pumpkins. (we will carve at least one this weekend!) With the exception of Emily, who went with pretty fall colors, the kids all did Angry Birds pumpkins. It was a group effort: they painted their individual pumpkins solid colors, Kirkland drew and painted the faces, and jay and I made his pig's crown. So here are our little pumpkins:

I'm back!!

My first blog post after I don't KNOW how long! Fall is a really good time to start blogging again - there is SO much going on!!! Football, Halloween, Thanksgiving, fall weather, pumpkin patches and corn mazes - just all kinds of stuff! So I am really looking forward to getting back to blogging and hope I can be at least mildly entertaining! :) These first few entries might be out of order since I do want to go back and do posts about a few things we've done the past month or two!
I have to share our dinner from last night. The first fall after the divorce when I was living with Chip, I started a little tradition with the kids- Mummy Dogs! Here is Emily 2 years ago with her Mummy Dog:

So of course we had to do them again this year. Emily was not with us Tuesday night (she was at a B.B. King concert!) but the rest of us had Mummy Dogs and mac and cheese. Josh LOVES to help in the kitchen so he helped me make mac and cheese!! Look how sweet:

Cutting up the butter.

Pouring in that stuff that is supposed to be cheese (hey, don't hate. Derek and the kids both PREFER box macaroni and cheese.)

Um, yeah - THAT is the face that gets him out of everything.

And here are our cute Mummy Dogs! (it's very simple - cut your crescent rolls into strips, wrap them around wieners. Bake according to roll instructions, but keep an eye on them. Mustard eyes!)

I made a Skor cake for EMCC and it didn't all get eaten (it's wonderful, and the recipe is on my pinterest) so we had leftover cake for desert! Jay approves.

So does Josh.

And so does Kirkland ... you can tell by her "happy" plate.

And so, there we go! My first blog entry!!! It's so good to be back! :)
